Therese & Ryan | Summer Boston Engagement Session

Therese & Ryan were a dream to work with during their Boston engagement session! The weather was perfect and we had a total blast together. This was my first time in Boston, and it truly did not disappoint. I flew up to Boston for the day, just like I did for Maried and Phillip’s D.C. engagement session last year.

How they met:

Therese and Ryan are one of the lucky couples who met the old fashioned way – in person! Ryan told me about the moment he met her: “I saw Therese at the rooftop of Felipe’s taqueria. I was walking past her and was just struck dead in my tracks; something came over me and I had to ask (as I saw she was wearing a tiara), “I love your tiara, is it your birthday?” Then she pointed out she was wearing a sash that said “Birthday Girl,” and I was afraid she would think I couldn’t read. (Afterwards I saw that the tiara also said, “Birthday Queen.”) I asked her her name, and she said “Therese.” I responded, “Like Lisieux?” and she said “exactly!” After a short while of talking with her, I asked her on a date to the North End in Boston the next day. (She canceled, but I persisted and we got dinner the next week.)” Obviously, his courage was rewarded!

The session:

Ryan and Therese are some of the kindest people I’ve met, and have the kind of love that is described by Saint Pope John Paul II in Theology of the Body- full, faithful, free, and fruitful. I felt like I was third wheeling in the best way as we walked the streets of Boston for the engagement session! We started the day in North End, with coffee at Caffé Vittoria and a stroll along the iconic streets. I’ve never met anyone who loves coffee more than I do until I met Ryan and Therese!

A trip to Boston wouldn’t be complete without stopping by Acorn Street for a few photos. We stopped by St. Paul’s Parish, the stunning Catholic Church in Cambridge where they’ll be getting married this summer. The high ceilings, intricate architecture, and sacred quiet made me so excited for their upcoming wedding. We shot this session during the extreme heat wave in Boston back in June, but you’d never know from these stunning photos!

We also shot some of their photos on Harvard University‘s campus, a place near and dear to both of their hearts. Ryan just graduated from Harvard’s Law School and Therese got her master’s degree from Harvard as well. Her pink Chanel outfit popped so perfectly against the green of the campus. We even snuck in a few grad photos for the two of them.

Therese and Ryan, thank you for transporting me around Boston and trusting me with your memories!! It was fun capturing the two of you. Enjoy browsing the images from our session below!
