Therese and Ryan had a beautiful Catholic wedding at St. Paul’s Parish off Harvard Square and the Harvard Faculty Club in Cambridge, MA last weekend! There were so many beautiful details, from Therese’s stunning, beaded Elie Saab gown to the delicious 4 tiered wedding cake from Montilios. This was a unique wedding – instead of a dance floor at the reception, the bride and groom opted to have a debate, arguing the topic “Was it better back in the day?” More on that to come!
Therese and Ryan have a sweet beginning to their love story – check it out here on the blog post I wrote for their Boston engagement session. Their wedding day was no different – full of joy, excited squeals, and so much tender love for each other and those they loved.
The day started with some details and getting ready photos at the bridal suite at the HFC. The 6 piece invitation suite looked so pretty nestled with the bride’s First Communion rosary and the prayer cards her groom gave her! Therese and her dad, who have a very close relationship, shared a sweet first look before the ceremony. This day was a quick one, so we squeezed in bridal party photos early in the day. I made one of my favorite bridal portraits during this part of the day too!
Catholic Wedding Mass at St. Paul’s Parish
The Catholic wedding Mass at St. Paul’s Parish was beautiful! There were so many intricate details in the church, which is over 100 years old. The church acts as the Harvard Catholic Center, which Ryan frequented often as a law student. The bride arrived in style in a vintage, white Rolls Royce, from Black Tie Limousine. They had a traditional wedding Mass with a lovely boy’s choir supplying the music. The walk from the church to the reception venue was about 6 minutes, which made it so easy for all the guests to go straight to cocktail hour! After family photos, we spent a few minutes taking couple’s portraits.
Harvard Faculty Club Reception
The faculty club was a great spot for the wedding reception. There was a traditional, classic feel to the venue. The staff provide impeccable service too! They had two banquet style tables for their guests, with each table setting set with a personalized thank you note for each guest. Their first dance was played by a live string quartet, who did a fabulous job. Following the cake cutting, the debate begun. I must admit, I was a little skeptical of how this would go. However, it was one of the most entertaining things I’ve seen at a wedding reception (and you know I love a dance floor!). The main speaker roamed the middle of the room, delivering his arguments, and guests piped in with questions or dichotomies. It was incredibly funny, and worked well with a room full of lawyers!
At the end of the night, Therese changed into a going away dress and threw her bouquet. While their guests waved mini flags (American and a few different state flags), Ryan and Therese left in their getaway car. It was such an honor to fly up to Boston for this beautiful wedding – thank you Therese and Ryan for trusting me with your wedding photos!
