Sharon and Miles had a beautiful Catholic wedding at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in north Atlanta and the Little Cottage in Smyrna last weekend! It was a beautiful, early fall day with lots of giggly kids and happy tears from everyone involved. It was a delight to collaborate with Fully Present Wedding Coordination for this event! This group of Catholic ladies is always at the top of their game when we work together, and they treat my brides with a lot of care and detail!
Sharon and Miles have a sweet beginning to their love story. Sharon and Miles connected on the app Hinge and started talking. Miles knew she was special, and he wanted their first date to communicate that. He took her to the Chastain Restaurant, near where he grew up. On their next date she took him to the dog park with Mae. Over the next several months they traveled to several friends’ weddings. And along the way, they fell in love, and discerned God’s call to get married. Here’s where I entered the story – I first met them when Miles reached out to me to photograph the proposal at the Chastain – the same location where they had their first date. I was estatic to work with them again for their wedding.
The misty wedding day started with some details and getting ready photos at the bridal Airbnb. The ladies were all excited and no one could make prolonged eye contact with our bride, who would immediately become teary. The light purple bridesmaid dresses represented Miles’ favorite color, and the bouquets were handmade by the bride herself!
Catholic Wedding Mass at Holy Spirit
The Catholic wedding Mass at Holy Spirit was beautiful! The rain was misty, but didn’t stop us from getting some fun portraits beforehand. Sharon and Miles shared a private moment where they exchanged back to back squeezes, thoughtful gifts, and nervous excitement. Sharon’s first look with her dad was also so sweet and special! The couple had a traditional wedding Mass with a lovely choir supplying the music. It was such a special moment when Miles, clutching their wedding crucifix, began weeping upon seeing his bride walk down the aisle! The rain held off afterwards, giving us time to make some equally beautiful and joyful portraits of everyone. Miles and Sharon did their Flowers to Mary prayer privately outside at one of the statues around Holy Spirit, which was a sweet, intimate moment.
Little Cottage Reception
Little Cottage is an awesome spot for a reception, with its massive and spacious interior. I love the twinkle lights that decorate the inside of the venue. A kids table full of activities was a hit for the little ones present. A Polaroid guest book, yard games, and a big charcuterie board kept the guests occupied during the cocktail hour. Another hit at the reception was the ice cream truck by Atlanta Ice Cream Company! The food by Old Vinings Inn was fantastic as well. Guests split their time between dancing, enjoying the music, or being outside in the breezy fall weather. The personalized Mason jars were the perfect favors for everyone to take hom!
A sparkler exit ended the night for this lovely couple. I’m so grateful for all the lovely couples who trust me with their wedding photos – thank you Sharon and Miles!
