Mary Jo & Matt | Thompson Hotel Wedding in Buckhead

I kicked off the 2025 wedding season with a beautiful winter wedding at the Thompson Hotel in Buckhead and Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Brookhaven. The weather was perfect, with pretty sunny skies and a spring hint to the air.

Mary Jo & Matt had their Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Assumption in Brookhaven and the wedding reception was at the stylish Thompson Hotel, with a beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline. Blue accents, romantic florals, and velvet bows were sprinkled throughout this pretty day.

The ladies got ready at the Thompson and the gentlemen got ready at the couple’s home. Mary Jo hand embroidered each bridesmaid and moms’ names on the cuffs of the shirts she gave them. She even embroidered her wedding date and some flowers into her cuffs – such a sweet detail! Her veil was vintage and worn by her own mom at her wedding too.

Once they had a quick first touch moment, they were married by the pastor of the church they attend in a Catholic ceremony without a Mass. The velvet and lace ribbon wand exit outside the church doors was very sweet. Afterward, we stopped by their house for some portraits with their beloved 10 year old English Mastiff, Atlas. The light in their backyard was gorgeous! After that we did some rooftop portraits at the hotel with the wedding party. In spite of the harsh sunlight, it ended up being really beautiful.

Their Thomson Hotel wedding reception was beautiful and classy! Elizabeth, with EKS Weddings, did a lovely job with the wedding coordination and making the day run smoothly. Their reception featured a Pittsburg cookie table, lively music from a live band, late night espresso martinis, a Coke bottle and popcorn favor bag, and exceptional service from the vendor team at the Thompson. Each table setting featured a bow personalized with the guests’ names. It was a wonderful night – congratulations to the newlyweds!
