Marissa and Steven had a beautiful Johns Creek Catholic wedding at St. Brigid Catholic Church and Grand Ivy Point last weekend! It was a beautiful, early fall day with lots of happy tears that was fully centered on the Lord.
Marissa and Steven met at a youth minsters’ meeting a few weeks after Steven left the seminary. Steven knew that Marissa was a catch immediately. At a retreat a few weeks later, he worked up the courage to ask her on a date to which she emphatically said yes to. Four months later, on the feast of our Lady of Lourdes, he proposed to Marissa and the rest was history.
God’s providence was all over this weekend, beginning with Hurricane Helene not affecting the wedding day or most of the guest’s travel. The overcast wedding day started with some details and getting ready photos at the church. There were SO many relics present – one of the True Cross, Mary’s veil, St. Mary Magdalene, and St. Thérèse of Lisieux! I was struck by how calm Marissa was as she got ready. She did not wear any makeup either, and let her natural beauty shine. One of the sweetest moments was when a very close priest friend of the couple flew in from Italy to surprise them on their wedding morning.
Catholic Wedding Mass in Johns Creek
The Catholic wedding Mass at St. Brigid was beautiful! They had a traditional wedding Mass with probably the most clergy I’ve ever seen at a wedding. The couple incorporated a wedding crucifix and flowers to Mary during their ceremony. After some family photos following the Mass, the two youth ministers had a mini reception for their teens in the youth room. It was a one song dance party that had the whole room jumping and dancing. For portraits, we stuck around the beautiful grounds of St. Brigid. This wedding party was top tier – they were so excited for their now married friends and brought the best energy to the day. There were lots of saint medals incorporated into the day. I especially loved the St. Thérèse medals on the rose boutonnieres that the groomsmen wore. Steven and Marissa’s portraits were so beautiful. Her cathedral length veil added a lovely romantic touch.
Grand Ivy Point Reception
Grand Ivy Point is a newer venue, and has a very spacious interior. The bride and groom wanted a romantic, timeless, and Catholic feel to their reception. The pink and white rose arrangements by Flower Cart Price were so classic! I loved their rotary phone voicemail guestbook – that’s the first time I’ve seen that a wedding. Marissa and Steven wanted to do a joint Father Daughter and Mother Son dance, which was really sweet. Their guests loved to dance, and the late night slider bar was the perfect midnight snack. They wrapped up the night with a private last dance and a flower petal exit. After the exit, we went with the couple to Waffle House for a few fun portraits!
I’m so grateful for all the lovely couples who trust me with their wedding photos – congratulations Marissa and Steven!
