K and B had a stunning Catholic wedding at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek and Little River Farms in Milton, GA last weekend! Rain could not stop their deep love for each other, and every detail was perfect. The dusty pink of the bridesmaids’ dresses and the beautiful rose florals by Posh Petals looked stunning. The vendor team for this wedding day was top notch, and it made everything run so smoothly.
K and B met on Bumble initially, and hit it off right away. K was immediately drawn to how thoughtful and kind B was, while he thought K was “the kindest, most wonderful person ever.” I shot their amazing engagement session at Montaluce Winery this past spring, and I was also struck at how sweet and kind they were with each other. Being around K & B is easy in the best way.
We started the day with some details and getting ready photos at the groom’s parents house in Alpharetta. K looked like a Renaissance painting, with her subtle bridal makeup and soft updo. Everyone was calm and happy, and the details were so perfectly classic. K & B’s sweet little puppy Penny joined in for some portraits too!
After a first look with K’s dad and bridesmaids, we headed over to the beautiful St. Brigid for the wedding. This was my first time at this Atlanta area parish, and I would happily go back! The church had beautiful architecture and grounds, and was the perfect backdrop for their Catholic ceremony rite. K & B shared the sweetest first look before their ceremony – B was tearing up before he even saw K! They shared sweet handwritten notes with each other, and we took some portraits so they could soak up the moment even more. I had a sneaking suspicion that the gloomy dark clouds would open up after the ceremony, so I tried to squeeze in as many portraits as I could here without overwhelming them!
K & B opted to celebrate the Rite of Marriage without a Mass. This is both a valid and sacramental marriage in the Church, and it looks a little different than your typical wedding Mass. The processional still begins the ceremony, followed by the Liturgy of the Word. Following the homily comes the Celebration of Matrimony. After the Prayers of the Faithful, the ceremony proceeds with the Our Father, Nuptial Blessing, and the Dismissal. It’s quite a bit shorter than a usual Mass, and is often used when a large number of the guests aren’t Catholic or there isn’t a priest available to celebrate the ceremony. K & B added in the Flowers to Mary tradition for their ceremony. Puppy Penny made another appearance outside the church for her now-married owners to grab photos with her! She is just so cute.
After the Mass, we headed over to the Little River Farms for more photos. The grounds were gorgeous, but the weather gave up on us. We did most of our photos indoors, which worked beautifully. If you’re planning a wedding, this is your reminder to pick your reception venue based on whether you would like your all portraits inside of it! Outside portraits are never guaranteed, especially in the summer. The beautiful, large windows at Little River Farms and the covered porch areas made for a great rain plan. Mary with Cheers! did a great job coordinating the day, and the staff at LRF were impeccable. The reception was lovely, with its blush details, candlelight, and gold chairs. Jesse with Spectrum Events kept the dance floor popping, and the glow wands and sunglasses were such a fun addition.
At the end of the night, the guests sent the happy couple off with LED ribbon wands (which I love) and some raindrops!! I am so grateful for the amazing Catholic couples that trust me with their wedding photos. Congrats K and B!!
