Gracie & Rob | Alexandria Old Town Wedding

I shot the best wedding at the Basilica of St. Mary in Alexandria, VA and the Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House! Alexandria’s Old Town charm, a stunning baby blue and white color palatte, and a classic art theme made for the most beautiful day.

The ladies got ready at an Airbnb and the gentlemen got ready at the groom’s townhome. The blue gingham pajamas for the girls were so sweet, and the bride wore a Red Sox jersey! The stationery details (created by the talented Lydia Marie Design) were the prettiest I’ve seen. She created a custom emblem combining their initials, a watercolor portrait of the church, and sprinkled the bride’s bouquet throughout the design. Rob surprised Gracie too by wearing his Marine Corps uniform instead of a tux! I loved that they used the Alexandria trolleys to get around on their wedding day too.

The church was still decorated with white lilies for the Easter season, which brought a whole other element of heavenly to the Mass. Gracie and Rob incorporated the Croatian Crucifix and Flowers to Mary traditions in their wedding Mass. The planning team at Cana Wedding Co kept this day running SO smoothly from start to finish. Avery and I have been internet acquaintances for a few years now, and it felt like an old friendship when we finally met in person! I absolutely 100% recommend them to any couple looking for a Catholic planner.

The beautiful Woodlawn Pope grounds made the perfect backdrop for their wedding photos! The landscaping on the grounds was stunning and the architecture indoors was as well. One of my favorite details was that Gracie had their welcome sign and seating chart printed on a painting! It was a unique touch I’ve never seen. The rain stayed away for their garden cocktail hour, featuring blackberry smash and margarita signature drinks. The cala lilies next to the little fountain and a jazz trio band under string lights set the mood. Their outdoor tent reception was a blast thanks to the Bachelor Boys live band, who kept the dance floor hopping. It was a wonderful night – congratulations to the newlyweds!
