Gabrielle and Alex had an intimate December weekday wedding at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta with a small reception at Stanley House Inn in Marietta this week! This wedding day was especially dear to my heart – I have had the joy of knowing Gabrielle for 8 years, since we met in college on my first day of class at the University of Georgia. It is an immense privilege to witness the marriage of one of your close friends happen from the intimate role of a wedding photographer!! Alex and Gabrielle met last year on a retreat, and Alex captivated Gabrielle with his gentle charm and persistent intentionality in pursuing her heart. Our friend group knew immediately that they were soulmates and so did they!
Their intimate wedding (under 50 people) was held on a Tuesday, which fell on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe and provided a personal and intimate atmosphere for two people who wanted simply to celebrate being married finally. The day was full of tears, radiant joy, and Alex and Gabrielle’s overflowing happiness at being husband and wife. Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta hosted their wedding Mass and three priests celebrated the Mass. Their celebrant even gifted them an image of OLOG, straight from Mexico, which they placed at the altar. The bride’s bible study and various friends came before Mass to pray with and over her as well. The church was beautifully decorated for Christmas, a season I know to be very beloved to Gabrielle. After the Mass, the bride and groom disappeared into the chapel for some time to pray and rejoice together.
Their brunch wedding reception at Stanley House in Marietta was lovely and short. After a sweet first dance and a combined parent dance, everyone dove into the delicious breakfast food. Instead of a cake, they had a small donut tower with some champagne. They chose to visit with people and take photos around the elegantly decorated venue in lieu of dancing time during the reception. We took portraits with each group of people as an “exit”, which gave them time to chat with each person. After everyone had left, we drove to a nearby field for more couple’s portraits, which were a DREAM!! We even saw a hawk spying on us (iykyk). The day wrapped up before 3:30pm, leaving them plenty of time to enjoy some time together! I am so grateful for the awesome couples that trust me with their wedding photos and precious memories. Congrats Gabrielle and Alex!!
