Audra and Josh’s wedding was held at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta. They had their reception at the beautiful Ivy Hall in Roswell. The weather forecast could not have been more perfect, with its crisp fall temperatures and beautiful sunny skies. I love shooting weddings at the Cathedral, so I was excited to start the fall season with this one! Audra is someone that is so easy to love! I had so much fun with her in the planning process, so I knew her wedding day would be a special one.
Audra and Josh’s story is one marked by God’s enduring love and Divine Mercy. Before meeting, Audra was on a journey of healing and prayer that began with hiking 90 miles of the Camino de Santiago, passing through Ávila, her future last name. Meanwhile, Josh was learning trust and surrender after being deployed in the military. They met unexpectedly through a dating app and had their first date on the Atlanta Beltline. Their shared faith, adventures, and heartfelt conversations revealed a love grounded in God’s grace. Josh’s words, “I will pursue you to the end,” confirmed for Audra that this was the love she had prayed for. Months later, he proposed in the chapel at the Cathedral of Christ the King, where she had long prayed for her future husband and where they wed last Saturday!
Their deep love penetrated every part of the day. Josh painstakingly learned how to forge metal during their engagement so that he could make their wedding rings by hand. He even created Audra’s custom diamond earrings. Yes ladies, if he wanted to, he would!! Audra and her ladies got ready at the elegant Waldorf Astoria in Buckhead. After, we headed to Atlanta’s Cathedral for a first touch and the wedding Mass.
I know many dread the “Catholic gap”, but I love it as a wedding photographer! It makes for plenty of time to get portraits with family, your wedding party, and spend time with your new spouse without feeling rushed. With the gap in between their Mass and reception, we had a lot of fun taking photos around the grounds of the Cathedral. We also took a bunch around the iconic Roswell Mill bridge with its fall foilage.
Nobody does receptions like the team at Events Catering! Ivy Hall might be my favorite of the two venues. The natural window light and beautiful cocktail hour space makes it a beautiful experience for guests. During the reception, Audra surprised Josh with a performance of the song she wrote for him. After a fun night on the dance floor with SE Events, Audra and Josh left with a fun confetti exit into a vintage Rolls Royce.
