Julia and Andrew had a beautiful winter wedding at the Cathedral of Christ the King and a reception in the heart of Atlanta at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park. It was a stunning wedding day, with velvety greens, classic white florals, and silver accents.
With January weddings in Georgia, the weather can be wild and unpredictable, and this one was no exception. Julia and Andrew originally planned to have their wedding reception at the Greystone at Piedmont Park, but the weather threatened a historic ice/snow storm. Worried about the safety and comfort of their guests, the couple decided the week of the wedding to move to Magnolia Hall. This venue is closer to the Piedmont Park parking deck. Julia and Andrew were incredibly calm the whole day about the situation, which was so impressive to me! We switched things around on our timeline the week of to ensure that they would get photos without getting iced on, and I promised them we’d be flexible no matter what the weather had in store.
Julia and her girls got ready at a nearby hotel and then we headed over to the Cathedral. After some bridesmaid and groomsmen photos, this sweet couple had a first look in a courtyard at the church. The wedding Mass went smoothly. After a few photos outside, we headed to Magnolia Hall, with an eye on the radar. We breezed through some more photos and then it was time for the reception. Their last minute switch ended up being beautiful, with some elegant draping to soften the reddish wooden walls. They used uplighting and candles to set a romantic mood. We had tentative plans for some snowy couple’s portraits, but the snow (or ice) never showed up! It was a fun night, complete with a beer pong game, busy dance floor, and a fiber optic wand exit.
