Casey and Mack’s wedding was held at the newly renovated Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in downtown Atlanta. They had their reception at the beautiful Ambient + Studio nearby. I personally love a December early winter wedding in Georgia – the weather is often not too cold and the sun is usually out! This was my first time seeing the Basilica since it was redone last year, and it was truly a treat. What a stunning church to get married in! Casey and Mack wanted their wedding to reflect abundance, and I think they hit that out of the park!
Their Story
These two met through FOCUS, but Casey said that they didn’t actually get to know each other until they walked the Camino together in 2024. She said, “All day we would walk with our group, but the two of us would usually split off and just talk alone. And then every night we would go somewhere and keep talking. I remember wanting to do anything I could to spend more time with him.” Their engagement session was back in the summer, and I was really struck by how deeply they appreciated each other’s unique personalities and how in sync they really were. Their wedding day did a beautiful job of reflecting that deep friendship between them too!
The Wedding Day
Make Me Up did the Casey and her bridesmaids’ makeup at a nearby Airbnb. After a first look with her bridesmaids, we headed over to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Atlanta for first looks and their wedding Mass. Since their wedding took place during the liturgical season of Advent, the florals from Rhapsody in Blooms subtly reflected the Advent colors – a detail I love!
The whole wedding day was beautifully centered on prayer and keeping Jesus at the center of the focus. After their wedding Mass, Casey and Mack took a break to pray during a private adoration hour and have a quiet lunch with just the two of them. During this time, their wedding party simultaneously prayed for them at adoration at another local church. Afterwards, we all met back together at Piedmont Park for portraits with all 26 members of the wedding party. We took photos of Casey and Mack during a gorgeous golden hour with the Atlanta skyline in the background.
Their wedding reception was an abundance of fun and celebration, and brought to my mind what the wedding at Cana must’ve felt like! The Gathering Board put out a huge charcuterie spread for cocktail hour in one room with a constantly busy coffee cart from Valor in the other. The space was beautifully decorated with help from the team at Atlanta Party Rentals and their coordinator Jessica. The catering from Superica was superb, and they even surprised their guests with an ice cream dessert station and late night snacks from Chick-Fil-A. Their reception was a huge party with the most packed and fun dance floor I’ve ever seen!
