Mary & Logan | St. Benedict Summer Wedding in Johns Creek

This weekend’s summer wedding at St. Benedict Catholic Church and Taylor Lodge in Johns Creek was the sweetest event! An elevated sunflower theme, sage green accents, a red Miata, and a lot of happy tears wove this summer wedding together.

Mary met Logan on Hinge, and the two instantly hit it off. Three weeks later, Logan flew up from Eastman, Georgia, where he was working as a flight instructor for Middle Georgia State University. For their first date, they went to Canes Chicken in Athens, Georgia—with one of his students tagging along as their unofficial “chaperone.” From there, everything fell into place. Logan proposed to Mary at Navarre Beach in Florida, a place filled with childhood memories for him. As a surprise, he invited Mary’s sister and several of her close friends to be there. They got married on the feast of Sts. Anne and Joachim, who are the patron saints of marriage!

Mary got ready with her bridesmaids at Taylor Lodge, which is the event space on St. Benedict’s property. From the moment Mary stepped into her dress to the final dance, there were happy tears and sentimental ones too. The kind of tears that spill over when your heart is just overflowing, marrying the one you’ve prayed for. Mary cried as she read Logan’s letter, as she hugged her mom, and during her first look with her sweet dad! Logan was excited too, and he and the groomsmen were fun and goofy through their getting ready photos.

Their wedding Mass was very sweet, and celebrated by a priest that has known Mary for years! St. Benedict will always be one of my favorite local Atlanta area churches. The church coordinator ladies are always kind and the church itself is beautiful. They incorporated the Flowers to Mary tradition into their Mass, and Mary surprised Logan with a special crucifix at the end of their ceremony!

After the Mass, we did family photos, wedding party photos, and couple’s portraits in a quick amount of time! The July heat is no joke, but this crew was so fun and kept the energy high! Taylor Lodge being on the church’s campus makes it so much easier for everyone involved in the wedding. Guests can just walk down to cocktail hour, the wedding party doesn’t need to worry about transportation, and the couple can spend more time on photos without worrying about travel time.

Mary and Logan’s reception was full of people who loved them, which is one of my favorite kinds of weddings!! Guests who are genuinely excited for you and who love you are the absolute best! The sunflower arrangements by Millbrook Farm Flowers were stunning, and combined with the imported gold chiavari chairs, brightened up the space beautifully. The dance floor was popping all night thanks to the awesome DJ. After sneaking out for some sunset photos with Logan’s red Miata, the bride and groom did a little outfit change and were sent off with a bubble exit! Altogether, it was a fabulous summer St. Benedict wedding with the sweetest couple – congratulations to the Greens!
